What to Get Your Valentine

We have some helpful tips from Amy Holley, owner of HolleyWrap, Louisville's Premier Gifting Service.

If you're like me, you think “chocolate” when Valentine's Day comes around.  As a child, a Whitman's Sampler always showed up at our house on February 14th.  It was special … the bite-sized pieces in the heart-shaped sampler were exotic to a Louisville kid growing up on meat and potatoes.   Louisville has lots of entrepreneurs cooking up Valentine goodies these days …

Thinking chocolate gifts this Valentine's Day? Consider a visit to Coco's Chocolate Cafe .  Coco's is now sourcing 100% organic, fair trade cacao (chocolate) beans from the Dominican Republic and roasting them to make their own chocolate! The bars are available in 45% Milk chocolate, 65% Dark chocolate, and 73% X-tra Dark chocolate blends, and sweetened with organic coconut sugar. All things chocolate are available at Coco's.

You might surprise your friends and co-workers with specialty Valentine coffee drinks from Red Hot Roasters, a drive-thru, cash only, location in the Irish Hill Neighborhood. "The Berry Red Hot Kiss" & "Honey, You Can't Handle Me Latte" are on the menu, and don't leave without a few of the amazing Stellar Sweets treats you'll find there.  Stellar Sweets goodies can be found at Day's Espresso and Coffee  in the Highlands, too … the coconut macaroons are fabulous!

Wanna' treat your cherished one(s) to dinner, but still honoring your 2012 BUDGET?  Consider breakfast … make a date with Toast on Market , Wild Eggs, or Lynn's Paradise Cafe.  Most of these local diners offer breakfast cocktails in addition to delicious traditional and eclectic breakfast entrees.
On the other hand, if you're still honoring your 2012 DIET, make a donation to the American Heart Association.  February is 'American Heart Month' - learn more @ www.heart.org

Now, make a list of your Valentines!

They’re in Full Bloom

There’s a fantastic new place in town where learning takes place in a blended environment with children of all levels of need, and it’s called Sproutlings.

You’ll see upwards of 120 children on the Masonic Homes of Louisville campus now days thanks to Sproutlings Pediatric Day Care and Preschool.  At Sproutlings, they take a different approach to day care and preschool by integrating both typical children and children with special needs, including up to 60 children who are medically fragile.

Check them out at www.sproutlingsdaycare.com or call for a tour, 502.753.8222.

Vacation or Staycation?

It’s that time of year when the HR department is asking for your vacation day schedule.
Will your summer vacation this year involve a stroll on the beach?

… or might a family “staycation” be on your schedule with some local exploring?

You could order up a “fried egg” at Squire Boone Caverns.

… or take the wheel in an old pickup truck at the Louisville Zoo.

… or better yet, get out the old Slip N’ Slide and have some fun right in your own backyard!

What does your summer schedule look like?
