In the April/May issue of Today’s Family, we showed you how to make a Derby fascinator with some supplies from Dee’s.
The great thing about this project is there is no wrong way to do it.
You pick the colors.
You pick the flower.
You pick the feathers.
You choose your supplies.
It’s your style, and you can make your fascinator any way you like! Have fun with it, and have a great Derby!

We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place at the Boston Marathon, and our hearts and prayers go out to each of the affected. What we can do now, as individuals and as a nation, is pray for those families and do our best to help our nation heal.
Moving forward, we know that your family’s safety is on your mind when it comes to attending public events, both nationally and locally.
In December, after the tragedy that struck Newtown, CT, L. Kevin Chapman, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Louisville, gave us some helpful tips for talking to our children about such tragedies, especially when those events elicit a general fear and anxiety. You can read his post right here.
Dr. Chapman says that we can give our children a reassurance of safety because events are often safer following tragic events due to national, state, and local law enforcement increasing their efforts to ensure safety at major events.
If you or your children are having difficulty moving past this fear and anxiety, you can talk directly to Dr. Chapman in a free phone consultation at 502.468.4581.
How has this recent tragedy made you feel about attending major events with your family? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

That said, most people think spring is just about light colors, but instead of making your style the clichéd, flouncy ‘model’ of spring—add some edge. I love pairing the softest pastel pieces with black leather. In the form of pants, a jacket—even a nice, leather purse! I think it keeps the feel of spring but gives me a look that’s...

Find out how these B-List Superheroes get the job done.
Queen Scrap-it – She waits on the curb at dawn on the trash day before Christmas to give the hauler his holiday tip. Other people whine about what the hauler refuses to haul. She says, paraphrased, “all I know is, my stuff gets gone.”
Roy G. Biv-ulous – Whatever it is you’re looking for, she knows what color you need, to match whatever.
Perfect Pitch Man – He can pick the perfect...
