If your child can sing, dance, act, play an instrument, or has some other performing arts talent, take them to open auditions at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, August 25 in the Jewish Community Center’s Dance Studio. Participants must register by Aug. 23. The entry fee is $10 per person.
The contestants will compete for cash prizes, learn the ropes of show business and gain exposure. Judges for the final showcase are Dawne Gee of Wave3 and Kathy Campbell of Heyman Talent Agency. John Leffert, director of CenterStage, will emcee the event.

Oh, if only there was a "Homework Help Fairy" that would visit whenever a child is having problems completing homework. Since no such ethereal assistant exists, here are some resources for minimizing the agony of homework time....for kids AND parents.
If your child attends JCPS, utilize the Gheens Academy website to see exactly what students are being taught and on what they are being tested on any given week of the school year. These maps are very specific and can give parents a starting point for seeing how their children are learning math nowadays (or science or social studies).
