Parent’s Perspective- Part 2

Although this school year is nearly underway for many, it’s never too early to start thinking about next year. We asked our parent-writers what is was that they “wished they’d known” when it came to sending their children to school, and we received great tips from parent-writer, Bob Uberti, that you’ll definitely want to remember for next year.

Get in the Game
A great way for new students to meet their future classmates before the first day of school is...
...to participate in a fall sport, because those teams practice and form bonds over the summer. Sports with large rosters may welcome walk-ons.

A Book of One’s Own
If your school is still using textbooks and doesn’t have enough for each student to bring home, purchase a used copy of the textbook for your student. They are deeply discounted on sites such as Amazon.com. At the end of the year, donate the textbook to your school.

You Need a Calculator that Costs How Much?!
To avoid buying a new calculator every 2-3 years, find out if the calculator for upper classes is allowed in lower classes. If so, buy that one. Amazon.com is also a good place to buy used calculators.   Photo Source: Sport Soccer
