Parent’s Perspective- Part 2

Although this school year is nearly underway for many, it’s never too early to start thinking about next year. We asked our parent-writers what is was that they “wished they’d known” when it came to sending their children to school, and we received great tips from parent-writer, Bob Uberti, that you’ll definitely want to remember for next year.

Get in the Game
A great way for new students to meet their future classmates before the first day of school is... participate in a fall sport, because those teams practice and form bonds over the summer. Sports with large rosters may welcome walk-ons.  

A Book of One’s Own
If your school is still using textbooks and doesn’t have enough for each student to bring home, purchase a used copy of the textbook for your student. They are deeply discounted on sites such as At the end of the year, donate the textbook to your school.

You Need a Calculator that Costs How Much?!
