Have a Spooktacular Weekend!


There are so many wonderful family festivals taking place around town this weekend that your family will probably have trouble deciding which ones to go to.  So, take a look below and fill up your schedule with some Halloween fun!

Family Fall Festival at Southwest YMCA- Saturday, October 27, 5-7pm at the Southwest YMCA, 2800 Fordhaven Rd.; FREE event open to the community, no membership needed!; hot dogs, inflatables, pumpkin painting, and more!



Bass Pro Shops- through October 31 is the It’s the Great Pumpkin FREE Halloween event at Bass Pro Shops in Clarksville, IN; FREE 4x6 photo weekdays 5-8pm and weekends noon-5pm; Trick-or-Treating (while supplies last) Oct. 26 & 31, 5-8pm; Grab an Apple contest Oct 27, 1-3pm; store-wide Scavenger Hunt Oct. 28, 1-3pm;  Costume Parade (with giveaways!) for kids 12 & under on Oct. 26, 6-7pm

F.A.T. Friday Hop –The Halloween Edition
Brown-Forman is sponsoring a special “SoCo Halloween Hop” on Friday, October 26th from 6 to 10 p.m.  Hoppers can enjoy free candy and are encouraged to dress in costume. 
Special activities happening during the F.A.T. Friday SoCo Halloween Hop on October 26th are: 
  • Third Lutheran Church, located at 1864 Frankfort Avenue, will host “Trunk or Treat” in the parking lot behind the church where kids dressed in costume can go from car to car to get free candy!
  • Mellwood Art Center, located at 1860 Mellwood Avenue, will host a Halloween Pet Costume Contest and participants can enter for a chance to win $50! Costume judging will take place at 8:00pm in the Mellwood courtyard where Crushed Velvet will be playing live dance music. The Canadians Invade Kentucky exhibition is currently on display in the majority of the Mellwood Galleries, which features ten Canadian photographers. This exhibition is being held in conjunction with the 2011 Louisville Photo Biennial.
  • Margaret’s Consignment, located at 2700 Frankfort Avenue, will host a costume contest at 7:30pm, and the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Margaret’s! There will also be free candy, Lady Gaga impersonators, and chair massages provided by Balance Therapeutic Massage from 6:00pm-8:30pm.
  • Eyedia, located at 1631 North Mellwood Avenue, will partner with 9th District Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh to host a Green Triangle celebration featuring refreshments and giveaways to guests wearing costume. A portion of the evening’s sales will also benefit the Green Triangle program

Westport Village Trick or Treating
Trick or Treat in The Village! Enjoy trick or treating in all stores, live music, dancing, and activities for the entire family. Don't forget to wear your costume!!

Jack O’Lantern Stroll
Come and stroll the outfield of Louisville Slugger Field through a glowing path of over 2500 beautifully carved Jack O' Lanterns while enjoying music and Fall goodies! Enjoy trick-or-treating, games, viewing Louisville's largest pumpkin pie, and more!

Norton Commons Fall Festival
Trick or treating brought to you by the Norton Commons' businesses, bouncies, train rides and so much more!

Halloween Downtown
Bring your little ghouls to downtown Jeffersonville for this annual Trick-or-Treat event.

Trick or Treating at Brown Park
This special event in October is a community favorite, attracting over 3000 children and countless adults – and best of all, it’s FREE, too! The festival offers music, games, and attractions such as hayrides, petting zoo and trick-or-treating through our “haunted forest.” Children and families meander through the park collecting goodies from the businesses which are set up along the way, awaiting the little “ghosts” & “goblins” with treats and surprises.

PumpkinFest
Before heading out on your own Halloween eve adventures, take your kids out to Jeffersontown’s Farmer’s Market Pavilion for PumpkinFest 2012! Kicking off the late morning at 10:00 A.M. on October 27th, the historic Gaslight Square will play host to hundreds of young ghouls in a pre-Halloween celebration. A routed map of all participating businesses for the trick-or-treat walk will be given out upon arrival. Families are free to walk their children along this route until 1:00 P.M., and all local businesses in the area are encouraged to take part. You can also register for door prizes and the winners are announced before the festival wraps up. Free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks will be provided courtesy of the City. Music entertainment starts at 11:30 A.M.

KIDabalou

Bardstown Bound Boofest
A mix of trick-or-treating with shopping the local stores of Bardstown Rd. You can dress in your favorite costume and visit the local businesses of the Highlands. They will be participating in Boofest by offering specials, live performances, costume contests, and much more! It is a great mixture of Halloween fun for people of all ages. Trolleys are available for those that want to ride down the street!

Boo Dell
Calling all ghouls and goblins! Yew Dell and the Oldham County Library have teamed up again to offer this day of fun, trick-or-treating along the Trail of Treats, a jack-o-lantern contest, and the return of Mr. Magic (2pm). Come in your Halloween best and bring the kids along for a spooky afternoon at Yew Dell. Texicans will have BBQ available for the grown ups!
