New Year, New You

Is it too late to make New Year’s Resolutions? As a mother and grandmother, I notice that young children, while not so focused on time passage each month and year, do pay attention to areas for self-improvement on many levels. Our oldest granddaughter seems to have that down, given her latest school report card (all A’s!). We need to review how to achieve high marks in some family activities we engage in, as well.

We reflected on our past year and listed ways we can improve our potential for even better family times ahead this year. Here’s what we came up with, inspired by pictures of places and people we have loved in 2012:

1. Remember saying “Thank-You!” We let those who have given to us know how much their gift is appreciated.

2. Aspire to eat healthy. Our youngest granddaughter, not yet on solid foods, would love to eat just like Mommy and Daddy...preferably at the table, though!

3. The Louisville Zoo is fascinating! We hope for more zoo visits ahead and more thoughtful preparation for a hot day...bring swimsuits for the water park and wear sturdier shoes (not flip-flops) for walking and climbing.

4. Huber Farms’ awesome pumpkin patch and Halloween atmosphere inspire us to discover more about their apple and strawberry picking and other activities in the coming year.

5. Learning to talk and walk is a priority for our two youngest grandchildren. It is going to get a lot noisier around grandma’s and grandpa’s house in 2013!
