A World Without Empathy

Is it just me or do you think everyone around you is going crazy and becoming more and more rude?

How many times have you watched in disbelief while a situation unfolds before your eyes that you cannot believe is taking place?

What if you were the mom of a special needs child and someone walked over your child in an amusement park?  I was at the happiest place on earth when I noticed...
...another parent walk over top of my child as he sat in his wheelchair. At the moment I caught this person walking over my son, I wanted to chase the person down and walk over top of their head. However, with people pulling out guns and going on shooting sprees in this country, I felt frozen to respond at all.

Then I thought of my son and how someone stepping over him may have made him feel. Many persons in this society today think of themselves only. We, as a society, need to consider how our actions will affect others. Walk in the shoes of the person you are treating rudely and think of how you would feel if you were treated the same way. It makes me furious to see anyone treat someone less fortunate as if they are invisible.

I read a line from a poem once that said, “Have you helped a single brother of the many that you passed, and do you think God will say, ‘You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today.’”

Treat others the way you want to be treated.
