No Snap-Decision Play Dates

When my two daughters were little, they would run excitedly to the car after school to ask if a friend could come over. It was hard to resist their adorable brown eyes staring at me.

Time and time again, I said “no” until they learned that they couldn’t ask on an impulse.

I worked from home, and they thought...
...that I was available every afternoon. I tried to teach them to be considerate of my plans and our after-school schedules.

Now that they are both in their 20’s, they still ask before inviting friends over. Success!

What is your strategy when it comes to planning play dates? Please share with us in the comments below.
