While there are many great baby food options available in grocery stores, some parents choose to instead take on the responsibility of making their children homemade baby food. This task my sound daunting, but there are affordable and easy ways to successfully make your own fresh baby food. There are a lot of machines sold in stores specifically for this, but there are also much less expensive ways to get the job done. Most of the items needed are already right in your kitchen: a blender, tablespoon, ice cube trays, storage containers, freezer bags, and a food mill.
Overall, the general method for making the food is simple. First, the fruits or veggies need to be...
...chopped into small pieces and then boiled. After they are soft, they should be placed in the blender or food mill and puréed. When the food reaches the desired texture, a tablespoon-sized amount can be placed in each spot of the ice cube trays and put into the freezer. After the food freezes, the cubes can be moved into freezer bags that have been labeled with the type of food and the date. These frozen cubes can be saved for up to 3 months in the freezer. When ready to feed them to your child, they can be taken out of the freezer and placed in the fridge to thaw over night.
