Christmas will soon be upon us, and that usually means lots and
lots of baking (and eating, which is my favorite part).
Here are my Top 10 Christmas Cookie Recipes:
Linzer Cookies—A traditional Austrian cookie based on
a torte that dates to the 1600s.
A kid-friendly sugar cookie without a zillion sprinkles—A
container of sprinkles dumped on a cookie is not my bag, but this cookie is one
both kids and adults adore.
Bark—
Though technically not a cookie but a candy, bark is a much-loved holiday treat
that can come in all shapes, sizes and flavors.
No-Bake Cookies—I remember my mom making these when I
was a child. She would spoon them onto
wax paper on our ping-pong table in the basement. Ahhh, the memories…..
Sandwich / Macaron Cookies—There are zillions of versions of this
cookie all over the online world.
Snowball Cookies—Also known as Mexican wedding cookies,
the kids will love making these because of the powdered sugar bath at the end.
Rugelach—This holiday cookies comes from the
Jewish tradition. I’ve
never been too interested in cookies with jams/jellies, but chocolate rugelach
sounds divine.
Kiss cookies—This is another cookie that takes
various forms, using Kiss chocolate candies, Hugs candies, and Candy Cane Mint
Kisses.
Rainbow layer cookies—These are also called Venetian
cookies, Neapolitan cookies, and in my world, they are called….heavenly.
