What To Do This Weekend: Family Fun At Churchill Downs


As the weather heats up, so does the fun in Kentuckiana! 
Check out this weekend's family-friendly events:
  • Derby may be over, but the fun continues on at Churchill Downs! This Sunday, spend a day at the track at Churchill's Family Adventure Day. Activities include horse meet-and-greets, face painting, stick horse races and more. $1 of each purchased ticket will be donated to Kosair Children's Hospital.
  • This Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., get to know the St. Matthews community at the 4th Annual St. Matthews Street Festival. This event stretches from Frankfort Avenue to Bauer Avenue and includes music, food and shopping for adults, as well as a free Kids Zone for the little ones. 
  • The circus is in town! May 14-17, the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents "LEGENDS" at the KFC Yum! Center. Tickets start at $13 with an All-Access Pre-show allowing ticket holders to learn the art of juggling, meet the performers and take photos.

  • The Old Louisville community is hosting their annual Springfest May 15-16. First Street from Oak to Magnolia will be lined with vendors, artists and gourmet food trucks. Kosair KidsZone offers entertainment and learning opportunities for kids. The event will take place Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • If you missed last weekend's showing of "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse," be sure to catch the final performance this Saturday at the Kentucky Center. Tickets are $15 for children ages 1-12 and $20 for ages 13+.
  • The Kentucky Humane Society's 2015 Waggin' Trail Walk is this Saturday at Waterfront Park. The walk is both pet- and family-friendly with activities to entertain both. The event begins at 10 a.m. with registration opening at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $25 with all proceeds and donations going to support the efforts of the Kentucky Humane Society.
  • For soccer fans, this weekend it's the Louisville City FC verses the Toronto FC II down at Slugger Field. The match will take place this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with Family Zone tickets starting at $15.
  • "Where Hope Grows" - filmed in Louisville - opens this Friday. This inspirational story about a friendship between a former Major League Baseball player and a boy with Down syndrome named Produce is a great film for the whole family.
