What To Do This Weekend: Final Summer Fun!

It's the last weekend of summer, but don't get too down about it -- family-friendly fun is happening all around Kentuckiana! Here are some of the events we're excited about:

• Hot air balloons are lighting up Jeffersontown this Friday at the 2015 Gaslight Festival Balloon Glow! This free event at Skyview Park includes live music, food vendors and activities for the kids.

• Healthy Hoops Kentucky is happening this Saturday at Moore Traditional High School! This event is free for all asthmatic children 7-13 and their parents. Darrell Griffith, along with the Healthy Hoops Coalition, will be running health education and basketball workshops. 

• Bug out this Saturday at Berheim Forest's BugFest! Meet critters of all shapes and sizes on the insect safari, be a bug in the Bug Parade and even try a chocolate-covered cricket!

• Bike to Beat Cancer is happening this Saturday, and bikers of all ages are welcome to participate! The 5-mile Family Ride begins at 10am, with Qdoba and the "Just for Kids" Fun Zone waiting on the other side of the finish line. Proceeds go to benefit Norton Cancer Institute.

• Experience the magic of "Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate" at the KFC Yum Center! Catch all your favorite Disney characters and songs, celebrating everything from birthdays to Valentine's Day. A show the whole family can enjoy!

• Come out Saturday afternoon for the St. Francis of Assisi Fall Festival! Enjoy food, family activities, game booths and more at this great community event.

• There's free family art happening this weekend at Local Speed on Market! Join storyteller and musician Cynthia Changaris for "Words of Art -- Stories at Speed." An imaginative day of art and performances for the whole family.

• It's Family Fun Day this Saturday at the Clarksville branch of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library! Come out and have a blast with inflatables, a water cage challenge, carnival games, bubbles, chalk and more.

• Enjoy a free movie by the river at the New Albany Amphitheater! This Saturday features Disney's live-action "Cinderella." Film starts at 8pm with food and beverage available for purchase.

• Find out how you can be a hero this Saturday at the Louisville Zoo's Toyota Backyard Action Hero Day! Pick up a free Action Hero Guidebook full of fun facts, awesome animals and activities, and see how you too can become a conservation hero!
