Sledding, Community Centers Open for Children Today



With area schools closed today due to the weather, Metro Parks and Recreation’s 12 community centers will be open until 7 p.m. today. 

Many of the centers are offer WiFi, computer labs, gymnasiums and game rooms to keep your kids busy.

The Dare To Care Food Bank's Kids Cafe Program, offered at 10 community centers and the Shawnee Arts and Cultural Center will be offering meals. (Parents, please call the selected center to ensure availability.) To find the center nearest you, click here.

"If parents want their kids to get a hot meal, have a safe place to do their homework, or maybe play a game of basketball with their friends, our community centers are open for business despite the weather," said Assistant Director of Recreation Ben Johnson.
