What To Do This Weekend

The holiday season is in high gear, and so are the festivities! This weekend enjoy music, magic, and more.

Look below for some great family fun options:

  • Embrace the magic of the season with the Brown-Forman Nutcracker, a holiday classic. Go early and experience holiday fun and festivities at a pre-matinee Sugar Plum Party, which includes treats and snacks, photos with cast members, and other fun, interactive activities. (There is an additional fee for attendance.)

  • You may also want to check out a sneak preview of Nutcracker on Ice, a 30-minute abridged version of the classic ballet presented by the Louisville Skating Academy as part of Louisville's Holiday in the City events. (You can see the full version starting next weekend.)

  • Santa is making a special stop by the Louisville Zoo, and he’s bringing some of his North Pole friends along. At Santa's Safari, visit and take a photo with Santa, meet Mrs. Claus and Frosty the Snowman, and enjoy refreshments, a craft, animal encounter stations, and more.

  • Come dressed in your PJs and enjoy free games, crafts, and activities for the whole family at the Polar Express Party at the Louisville Free Public Library. Mrs. Claus will read The Polar Express, followed by a screening of the movie with hot chocolate and treats. The Library will be collecting donations of new or gently used items for Kentucky Refugee Ministries. Suggested items include books, school supplies, or winter wear (scarves, hats, mittens, etc.).

  • Join more than 250 talented youth musicians at the Louisville Youth Orchestra's "A Bluegrass Holiday," featuring the Percussion Ensemble, Serenade Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Repertory Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra.

  • Bring the family (and your camera) to Paddock Shops for Carriage Rides with Santa, with face painting and holiday carolers, too.

Have a festive family weekend!
