Tree-Trimming Party?

Here’s the breakdown:
-1 naked tree
-900 colorful lights
-2 HUGE boxes filled with ornaments (number unknown)
-3 kids, ages 6 and under
-and a partridge in a pear tree (just kidding!)
Now, I love to look at the ornaments my little family has collected over the years.  They are truly special to me, and I love having them hanging on my tree to enjoy throughout the holiday season, but getting them up there… now that’s a different story.  I dread the hours it takes to decorate a Christmas tree.  If only I could wiggle the tip of my nose, and it would all be done.  Unfortunately, that never happens.  Trust me, I’ve tried it.

So, my husband and I devised a plan a few years back and have turned it into a tradition.  We call it a “Tree-Trimming Party”.  Using the aforementioned pseudonym and the promise festive food and drink, we lure our family members to our home, and voila, the decorating begins. Our bare tree transforms into a beautiful Christmas tree  right before our very eyes.  With the extra hands, the tedious task, if you will, of decorating our tree becomes a festive evening filled with cheer.   The highlight of our home during the holidays is put together by the hands of each of our family members.

As it turns out, our once-devious tactic has turned into a holiday tradition we all look forward to every year!

Do you have a tree-trimming strategy or tradition like ours?
