A {Grand} Baby on the Way

To some, this picture might resemble a newly-discovered galaxy, or maybe that solar storm we’ve been hearing about lately. To our families, however, it really IS a picture of a little bit of heaven. We are counting down the days to the birth of our third grandchild — my son, Ryan, and daughter-in-law, Kiara’s first child. This is the baby’s ultrasound at 31 weeks. Isn’t she beautiful?

Watching my youngest son becoming a parent, I am reminded of his baby- and toddlerhood. The constant mischievous twinkle in his eyes kept us on our toes. He was always on some over-the-top adventure, which often led to the extreme limits of our patience. As a new Daddy-to-be, Ryan still possesses his youthful playfulness, wild imagination, and energy. Ryan is also a very loving son, and we are looking forward to his qualities of sincerity, respect of others, persistence, and conscientiousness being nurtured in his little girl as she grows. If she also inherits that mischievous twinkle in her eye, too, watch out!

Ryan has chosen his soul mate in Kiara, who is bubbly and vivacious, and also very full of energy. We are extremely happy they have found each other and that they are expecting their first child. They have the baby’s room decorated and ready, and the excitement grows as they have begun their parent-to-be classes this month. Kiara is now on her maternity leave from work.
