Homearama Time!

Today we’re getting the inside scoop of what’s going to be happening at Homearama 2012 from Tara Brinkmoeller, Director of Public Affairs and Communications for the Home Builders Association of Louisville.

How did the Home Builders Association of Louisville choose Rock Springs and Shake Run as its locations for this year’s Homearama?
The developers applied to have Homearama last year. We have a committee that selects which neighborhoods are going to be chosen. These are two great neighborhoods. They off a lot of amenities people want today; there’s a lot of green space, beautifully designed homes, and they’re in high growth areas of our community.

What makes these two neighborhoods good spots for families to move to?
Rock Springs has a playground area for the neighborhood, and Shakes Run has a pool and a clubhouse. If you choose to bring your family with you to the event, the home designers make sure to showcase kids’ rooms and play areas so that they can look at the fun designs each house has to offer.

When is this event happening?
Homearama 2012 is happening July 14-29. Ticket prices are $10 per person per site or $15 per person for a Dual-Site pass that can be used once at each site, any two days of the event. Children under 12 are free with a paying adult. On our website, homearama.com, there is a coupon for a buy one get one free pass. The ticket table closes an hour and a half prior to closing time.

Is there anything special going on at either of these locations?
This is our second year offering playhouses at either location. The Home Builder’s Association of Louisville partnered with YouthBuild Louisville and Kosair charities to build two playhouses to give to two well-deserving families of kids with disabilities. These houses look like miniature versions of actual houses. If you come to Homearama, you’re more than welcome to come in and take a look around them.
