Learn the Rules of the Road in Safety City

Safety City is a local educational program aimed at helping children learn and practice the skills necessary to avoid preventable injuries. As the leading cause of death among children under age 15, many of these injuries could be prevented if children were instructed to be aware of common dangers.

Founded in 1993, Safety City educates classes of second and third grade students on topics such as stranger danger, wearing seat belts, dialing 911 during an emergency, and fire safety. The full day of lessons is taught by an officer and civilian employee of the Louisville Metro Police Department. After completing the workbook curriculum, the students spend time riding in powered mini cars through the model city featuring a hospital, bank, library, and other community buildings.

Call 502.574.2003 to ask how your child's school can participate in this program.
