Take a Trip to Canada
Here's a family-tested vacation to Canada you can book today. Plus, read more about this trip in our magazine.
Destination: Ontario, Niagara Falls and Toronto
Where To: Ontario - Niagara Falls - and Toronto, in June
How You Got There: Minivan
How Long Did It Take: Nine hours to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls
How Many Days: Five
Number of Adults & Number and Age of Kids: two adults, two girls, ages 7 and 5
Location Stayed: Great Wolf Lodge, which overlooks the Niagara Whirlpool Rapids
Overall Feel: Perfect home base for half a day exploring, half a day relaxing most days
Tip: If you are staying at Great Wolf Lodge, bring food from home or buy healthy snacks at a local shop. And eat out.
Before you go: Buy your tickets for the boat tours early and come back later in the day. Parking in downtown Niagara is limited, expensive, and a hassle. We will go back, and we will buy the two or three day Niagara Parks passes for hopping on and off the buses.
A Moment: I have this adorable photo of our little girls at one of the wineries sipping grape juice from goblets that the winery employees gave them while Mom and Dad tasted some varieties. They sat on a windowsill and had their legs crossed and chatted like two stylish twenty-somethings. A bachelorette party group walked by and cooed at how cute they were.
Angela Stallings Hagan, Ph.D., lives in Louisville with her husband, Ken, and their daughters Isabel (8) and Audrey (6).
