Try this to help get the kids to sleep easier

While scent is one of the most powerful triggers, a simple scent can help with many natural remedies. If your child is having difficulty falling asleep or sleeping through the night easily, you might want to consider this natural trick to help get the kiddos (and yourself) to sleep at night.

Lavender is a proven scent that helps relax and soothe the body for booth men and women. That is why it is most commonly used in spas and spa products. It can relax and help calm your nerves. Whatever the reason may be, we all have trouble falling to sleep at night on occasion and for some of us, nightly. If your little one is experiencing this, try using a homemade lavender oil spray to mist on pillows and bed sheets.

To make this, you'll need a few items:
  • Glass or high quality plastic spray bottle (find them on Amazon or at a local Whole Foods store)- a dark colored bottle is best to filter out any light
  • Distilled water (tap water can get murky over time and clog your spritzer)
  • Lavender essential oils (try to use a high quality therapeutic grade oil)
  • Witch hazel or vodka (you can skip this step but the witch hazel/vodka is disinfecting and makes the spray more effective)

What to do:
  • Add 2 teaspoons of witch hazel or vodka to a small bowl and stir in 10 drops of lavender essential oil.
  • Pour 2 ounces of distilled water into your spray bottle and pour in the essential oil mixture. Shake well. (Give it a shake before each use to evenly redistribute the oils.)
  • Spritz directly onto pillows before bedtime and let it do the work!
