What to Do This Weekend: Make Time for Family

Events are happening all over town this weekend, so be sure and set aside quality time to enjoy with family. Here's what we're excited about:
  • Take time to remember our nation's heroes at this weekend's 9/11 Salute to Our Heroes event. Friday and Saturday at Fourth Street Live, events will be taking place to honor and support all those who lost their lives 14 years ago, as well as our military and first responders.
  • Enjoy a movie under the stars at Great Clips Friday Night Movie Series' presentation of "Guardians of the Galaxy." Make sure to bring blankets and lawn chairs for comfortable viewing of this intergalactic adventure.
  • This Saturday, be sure and catch all the excitement at the 2015 Louisville Dragon Boat Festival! Watch as teams of boats will race down the Ohio, and experience a wide variety of Chinese cultural activities. Food trucks and performances will also take place. A fun and unique event the whole family can experience!
  • Experience a blast from the past at the special Falls of the Ohio event, "Digging the Past." Enjoy hands-on archaeology and geology activities, hikes, vendors and more!
  • Be prepared to walk the plank at Frazier History Museum's Second Saturday Family Day: "Pirates." Have a blast with pirate artifacts, songs, tales and crafts, with a special performance by Jack Salt.
  • Bring your lawn chairs and sandwiches this Sunday to Cherokee Park's Art in the Park Picnic! Have a lovely afternoon with the family -- enjoying food, live music and of course art. This event is free and open to the public!
  • Enjoy an evening of free classical music at the University of Louisville School of Music Faculty Gala Concert.
  • The Harry Potter Summer Movie Series at the Louisville Science Center is coming to a close. After a long summer of magic, we have reached the final film in the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II." Catch it before it's gone!
